Four contestants vied for the title, but only one walked away with the crown. Morgan Lockowitz of Trenton Ill., is Miss Audrain 2013, and will represent the local pageant in the upcoming Miss Missouri Scholarship Pageant in June.
Lockowitz, 23, is a graduate student at Missouri S&T. She holds two undergraduate degrees in architecture and civil engineering from MS&T. This is her second year competing for Miss Audrain. She had so much fun the first time, Lockowitz said she had to try it again. Her platform this year is suicide awareness/education.
After her win Saturday night. Lockowitz said "I'm so excited to represent Audrain County, and I can't wait to return in June."
As Miss Audrain, Lockowitz won a $1,000 scholarship, an official Miss America local crown, an official Miss America local sash, entry to Miss Missouri 2013, a $150 wardrobe allowance for Miss Missouri 2013, flowers and other items donated by several participating local businesses.
Miss Audrain 2012 Courtney Thomure was on hand to pass the crown to Lockowitz, and 2012 Miss Missouri Tippe Emmott was emcee for Saturday's ceremony.
First runner-up in the Miss Audrain competition was Stephanie Patton, also from Trenton, and who also snatched the People's Choice Award. Her winnings included a $500 scholarship, flowers and half of proceeds for being selected for the People's Choice.
